S-10
Substrates are multi-phase lithium disilicate materials comprised of approximately
70% crystalline structure and 30% amorphous glass. The inherent crystals present
in our TS-10 substrates provide the topography necessary for good CSS results
- without texturing. We control the crystal size to produce substrate groups
with different surface roughness values: Ra 2 Å-30 Å, Rp 40 Å-150 Å.
Ohara
is now supplying TS-10 substrates which have
been super polished to obtain the smooth surfaces necessary for ramp loading.
We have obtained Ra values as low as 2 Å and Rp values as low as 20 Å. The
Young's Modulus of our TS-10 substrates offers an advantage for high RPM drives.
